Emperor penguins; Now,then, and later
EMPEROR PENGUINS THEN
Emperor Penguins used to be able to fly. Since the penguins were always in the water to catch their prey, they adapted to the water. Emperor Penguins Today
Today, penguins are flightless, and they live equally on land and water. They have a thick layer of blubber to keep them warm in harsh snow storms. For food ,they hunt fish, squid, and krill. Did you know that emperor penguins can hold their breath for 18 minutes!? To reproduce, the mother places the egg on to the fathers feet and the father keeps it warm with a flap of skin while the mother leaves for months to get food. When the mother returns, they switch places. Then both parents help raise the chick after it hatches. . |

Emperor Penguins in the Future
If you look at the picture on the bottom right, you will see what we think a penguins will look like 200,000 years into the future. There's a pouch at the bottom of the penguin because since they're marine, they will need to have a safe place to keep their egg underwater, safe from any predators. This will also keep the egg from floating away. Every so often they will have to surface like dolphins since they will not be able to breathe underwater. To sum it all up, in the future we think the emperor penguins will still have many visual traits that are the same, but they will evolve into a whole new species as a group.
