Chameleons
Oh the colorful chameleon. They are beautiful creatures that live in rain forest and jungles way up high elevated
in the trees. Most of them are carnivores. Thankfully ,for now they are still around, but soon that could all change. Because
of people chopping down thousands of trees many chameleons will be left homeless. Without a habitat to live in and
a safe place to have their families. The only way for them to survive is to move and be a water animal. Or they will have to move far away from their old habitats on a new land territory. Some families will be split up and some members will be left behind. The chameleons that do survive their slow journeys to their new jungle or swamp have to worry and fear for their families because of the other dangerous animals in their new homes.
The Evolution of Chameleons
The chameleons that can find a safer and tree like
place to live will stay there on land instead of the water.
When this happens they will become separate from the
ones that live in the water. By cutting down the trees the
chameleons will have no place to go. And without a place
to go many of theses animals will end up dead or even
extinct. These animals will have to adapt to places like
rivers, oceans, swamps, marshes and whatever place they
can find on land. They will have get sharper teeth to kill, catch,
and hunt their food. They will have to become quicker on and off of land the
chameleons will start to slither and or crawl so they won't be
stepped on or easy to catch. They will go to these places
on water and land because their original habitats are slowly
vanishing. These waters and land regions will provide them
prey and a new place to live. They will have longer and slimmer
bodies so that it is easier for them to swim and move better
in the water. This new slimmer bigger body will also help
them move around on the land. They will have get sharper
teeth to catch, kill and hunt their foods. They will probably start
to eat more meat like fish, other animals found in water and
some on land. Their new diet might even consist of humans!
They will no longer eat as many insects because their are very
few in the waters and lands they are moving to.
Future chameleons
In conclusion chameleons will definitely be changed. After thousands of years have passed chameleons will start to evolve into another reptile that is very similar to a snake.
