Why do they need to evolve?
The Indochinese tiger is endangered, but thanks to natural selection it might not become extinct. The reason Indochinese tigers are endangerd is because people are hunting for their fur, farmers are illegaly hunting them, and people are after their bones for oriental medicine. The Indochinese tiger lives on land. It usually lives in heavly forested forests in Asia ( Burma, Cambodia, Laos, China, Vietnam, and Thailand). We thought about what kind of natural selection could best help the tiger and we thought of multiple possibilities.
How can they change?
Since they are endangered they might be forced to go and find a new home in a different type of environment. So from their large shoulder blades, we thought it might be a possibility to grow wings from there. They shoulder blades are a perfect place to grow wings from because if they are large enough the will be able to carry the tiger for a while. Then if someone was coming to hunt them they could fly away and maybe hide in a tree. Another advantage is about the water. Most tigers don't like the be in the water, so if they can't cross a river or lake they can fly over it. The only downside of adapting and getting wings is that the new Indochinese tiger will no longer be able to breed with the old tiger.
Another way they can adapt
Since they might have to live in an different environment, they might have to run long distances to find food. Another adaption that could help would be having longer and thicker legs. The Indochinese tiger has gotten smaller since it's ancestor the Smilodon tiger. The Smilodon tiger was 1102 pounds when full grown, and the Indochinese tiger is 500 pounds. The reason the Smilodon tiger was so powerful is because of its long and thick limbs. If the modern day Indochinese tiger adapts and gets some of its ancestors traits, then it will be able to run faster, kill easier, and run longer distances.
This is a indochinese tiger now
This is what we predict it will look like in 200,000 Thousand years
As you can see the familiar Indochinese tiger now looks very different. It now has longer and thicker legs. It also has wings.
